Accuracy of Double Bark Thickness Estimation Methods Used in Spruce—(Picea abies L. Karst) Timber Production in Czechia

چکیده
The accurate estimation of bark thickness is important for foresters several reasons. It crucial timber volume and can help improve the quality forestry records, has a growing commercial importance as high-value bioresource. problem that models such Czech Cubic Tables (CCT) polynomial model are frequently unique. Furthermore, official method requires rounding down midspan over-bark diameter (DOB) to nearest centimetre estimate double (DBT) merchantable volume. Therefore, we verified significance effects DOB on DBT using dataset 438 recently harvested Norway spruce (Picea Abies L. Karst.) logs from Central Bohemian region. correlation analysis showed measured data without diameters, variability was able explain only 8% variability. As rounded-down data, coefficient determination slightly higher, reaching 9%. paired-samples T-tests significant difference between calculated directly diameters (p < 0.05). linear underestimated (2.24 1.75 mm average, respectively) data. In contrast, DOB, overestimated (2.70 or 3.18 respectively).

An acetylated galactoglucomannan from Picea abies L. Karst.
A water-soluble galactoglucomannan composed of D-galactose, D-glucose, and D-mannose in 1:3:17 mole proportion has been isolated from the secondary cell walls of Picea abies L. Karst. About 33% of the polysaccharide units were substituted by acetyl groups. Structural studies of the polymer indicated a beta-(1-->4)-linked glucomannopyranosyl backbone with a low content of branch points at O-6 of...
متن کاملMeasurement and prediction of bark thickness in Picea abies: assessment of accuracy, precision, and sample size requirements
Tree and log diameters are usually measured outside bark, but inside-bark diameters are of greater economic interest and are often derived with local or regional bark thickness equations. To date, the influence of measurement method, sampling design, and sample size on bark thickness equation accuracy and precision has received limited attention. The objectives of this study were to use an exte...
متن کاملIdentification of Salt Stress Biomarkers in Romanian Carpathian Populations of Picea abies (L.) Karst.
The Norway spruce (Picea abies), the most important tree species in European forests, is relatively sensitive to salt and does not grow in natural saline environments. Yet many trees are actually exposed to salt stress due to the common practice of de-icing of mountain roads in winter, using large amounts of NaCl. To help develop strategies for an appropriate use of reproductive seed material o...
